Story for a possible game by ~S0D0:iconS0D0:

You've been searching your whole life, looking for a place with some meaning. You're a nomad... You live in one place, then move along after a short time. One day you find a place that entices you to stay, because of the dreams you start having... It seems that somewhere in this desolate futuristic city called Rancia, crowded with wanderers, thugs, and those of deep thinking, is hidden a paradise! most of the people who believe, are considered crazy, as nobody has been to such a place! A land filled with beauty, colorful plants and fruits are bountiful, forests and mountains all around, all the water is sparkling, and there are many creatures. Good and bad, every creature reflecting a person of the city's persona. However, since people are starting to disbelieve, the number of bad creatures are increasing! Everybody dreams of this said paradise, to their knowledge or not... those who dont believe in the place become the bad creatures in paradise, and the people who believe are good! You must try and convince the bad that this paradise really does exist, by cleansing their souls with the elements, to remind them that these elements really exist! All of these people have lived in nothing, and they don't believe that such a beautiful place can exist. The disbelievers of the city like to attack those who believe, to try and make them think that no such place can be real, but most of the time, it takes more than brute force to make somebody believe. Fighting in the city makes you even more powerful in the dream, and can help you to cleanse the bad creatures, to make a true paradise. If more people can believe in the dreams, maybe they can turn the city into a paradise! Gradually, after months pass of cleansing, grass starts to grow in the desolate city...
Maybe the dreams are effecting reality?
Maybe the dreams are the reality?

"Anyway, I think it sounds like a good game concept. The only thing I would add is make it so the character can choose whether to make it into a paradise, or they can choose to help it become all bad and hellish. That way, you get more choices in gameplay and attract a wider gamer audience. Plus it would be fun to play it through with one end goal, and then switch to see if you can beat it both ways."

I would gladly play the game. And I agree though, the idea of being able to make your character more hellish is enticing. Also, personally I would add the ability to create new things through manipulation of the dream, such as weapons. Sort of like the parliament system for the game Disgaea. That would probably draw the more creative crowd into the game.

what kind of weapons? anything automated just wouldnt belong in the paradise, but in the city it would fit right in

Work off the paradise. Allow them to make slight changes to it, but nothing that would damage the idea you created. If your paradise allows magic imbued swords, allow them to create different forms of that. Allow them to meld metal and gems into their own melee weapons, that sort of thing. But make it so theres a possibility the process will fail, and as the strength of the weapon increases, increase the percentage of how often that process will fail.
You could probably do the same with the weaponry in the city. Allow them a choice of automated weapons created by different substances found throughout the game. Then allow them to create new weapons out of them for usage in the city.
It all really depends on where you take the story line, and what the limits you've set for it are.

the weapon melding is a good idea, but i think it would be better to just customize the appearance of one of each weapon, and when the player gets that weapon, the design is always the same, and more unique. for instance, one person may have a blue spear with yellow feathers and a skull, while another would have a black spear with red spirals and a red tuft of fur, so people can dream how they want, a fee would be required to change the design of a weapon, if they wanted to. also different designs can effect physical or magical strength and/or defense

That sounds like a good idea to work off of. Allow personality to show in each persons weaponry. Makes the game less uniform, and each game different.
